The A13 Thames Gateway, linking Essex and London, is facing a series of overnight closures taking place over two years.
According to a Transport for London (TfL) traffic order, the major East London road will see overnight closures between 20 October 2025 and 20 June 2027.
The closures, which are intended to allow road safety works to take place, will take place between 9pm and 5am, but TfL has not yet published specific dates when the road will be shut.
The closures will affect various sections of A13, including:
- Between the junction with Goresbrook Interchange and the slip roads to Marsh Way
- Between its junctions with Marsh Way and Ferry Lane slip roads
- Between its junctions with Ferry Lane slip roads and Wennington Interchange.
TfL has said that the works may finish sooner than 20 June 2027 and that any closure to the route will only be in place when indicated by traffic signs.
The traffic order also states that certain vehicles will be exempt; any emergency service vehicle or anything done with permission from/under the direction of the police will be allowed to use the road during any closures.
