North Somerset Council has tendered a highways electrical assets contract, including streetlighting, with an estimated value of £5.1m.

The deal is expected to run from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2030, with two possible year-long extensions that could bring the end date to 31 March 2032.

The successful supplier will handle the maintenance of the council's street lighting, illuminated traffic management and other highway electrical equipment.

Core requirements of the contract include:

  • Maintenance of street lighting and illuminated traffic management and private underground cable network.
  • Maintenance of other highway electrical assets.
  • Installation of new and replacement of existing street lighting, traffic management and other highway electrical assets.
  • Potential technological advances in the highway electrical environment during the life of the contract.

The deadline to submit tenders is 21 October, with the successful applicant set to be announced on 4 December 2025.
