The Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) has announced that Paula Claytonsmith has stepped down from her role as chief executive officer (CEO) with immediate effect.

A statement from LCRIG shared on social media said: ‘We are extremely grateful for Paula's commitment, dedication, and the many contributions she has made during her three years with LCRIG. She remains a valued member of the extended LCRIG community, and we wish her every success in the next chapter of her career.'

'We remain fully focused on delivering for our members, partners, and employees, and we look forward to enhancing the services that support our community through 2026 and beyond.'

It added that the current managing director, Kerry Winstanley, will ‘continue to lead the organisation' alongside relationship director Susanne Ingham.

Ms Claytonsmith is one of the most high profile, popular and respected members of the roads sector. Having worked in local government and policy areas, before taking on a senior leadership roles at industry heavyweight Gaist, Ms Claytonsmith has a wide range of experience and an excellent grounding in how different parts of the sector relate to each other.

Softly spoken and keenly intelligent, at LCRIG she found a role that perfectly suited her experience and natural ability to connect and communicate with people, as she helped the group flourish and reach new levels.
