Morgan Sindall Construction has appointed Willmott Dixon's former director, Nick Corrigan, as the new area director of its North East and Cumbria business.

Mr Corrigan brings 30 years of experience in the construction industry, most of which was spent working across the North of England.

He spent the past 12 years with Willmott Dixon, starting as operations manager in 2013 before taking on the top role a year later. Prior to that, he held managerial roles with both The Miller Group and GB Building Solutions.

Mr Corrigan said: ‘This is a part of the world I know well and care deeply about. There's huge potential for growth in both the North East and in Cumbria, not least because of the renewed focus from the top levels of government on rebalancing the UK economy and supporting the UK regions.'

He stated that the company's decentralised model was a ‘major draw', adding: ‘The business has a genuine local presence and local knowledge. That means we can make decisions that are right for our local business and our customers.

'I've also seen first-hand the strength of Morgan Sindall's commitment to social impact and the quality of the systems it has in place to make sure local people benefit, local supply chains are involved, and the local pound is valued.'

Simon Arnott, managing director for Morgan Sindall Construction in the North, said: ‘There is a great deal of focus on investment in the North East and Cumbria and Nick is exactly the kind of leader we want at the helm of our regional business.

'He leads from the front, builds trust quickly with clients and teams alike, and is committed to delivering great work that leaves a lasting, positive legacy in the communities where we live and work. His breadth of experience and genuine passion for the industry make him the ideal person to take this business forward as it continues to grow.'
