Thorn Lighting has appointed Peter van der Kolk as vice president, after Saurabh Pandhi left to become CEO of Tridonic in September.
The company has worked with a raft of authorities on streetlighting upgrades, including Salford, Thurrock, Darlington and Derbyshire councils.
In a statement, Thorn said the appointment would support its 'continued strategic development as a leading international lighting brand'.
Mr van der Kolk has more than 25 years of international leadership experience and extensive knowledge of the lighting industry, including serving as CEO of Astro Lighting.
Before that, he held senior leadership positions at John Cullen Lighting, ASSA ABLOY and Helvar, as well as earlier roles at Philips and iLight.
He also served as chairman of the DALI Alliance, contributing to the development and advancement of industry standards.
Heiner Lang, CEO and chairman of the Zumtobel Group, said: 'Thorn is a strong international brand with a distinctive history and significant potential for further growth. Peter van der Kolk brings extensive experience in the lighting industry, international business development and brand leadership. His track record and customer-focused approach make him the right person to lead Thorn into its next chapter. Together with the Thorn team, he will build on the brand's strengths, further bolster its market position and create sustainable value for our customers and for the Zumtobel Group."
Mr van der Kolk added: 'I'm looking forward to working with our teams, customers and partners around the world to understand their evolving needs and explore how we can continue to strengthen the Thorn brand and the value we deliver. With Thorn approaching its 100-year anniversary, this is an exciting time to be part of the business and to help shape its next chapter.'
