A businessman has set up a temporary private toll road so that motorists can avoid roadworks on the A431 between Bath and Bristol.Mike Watts has spent £150,000 on the project and is charging drivers £2 a time to use the road which is just 340 yards in length. It features toll booths at either end.The A431 Kelston Road has been closed since February following a landslip and is due to reopen at the end of the year.The temporary road has been set up across fields and motorists who use it can avoid a 10-mile detour.Skanska is carrying out the repair works on the damaged stretch of the A431.
