The popular podcast series Talking Transport has been producing daily programmes from the ITS World Congress in Copenhagen, talking to exhibitors, thought leaders and demonstrators giving detailed insights into the big issues being talked about this year.  These podcasts are sponsored by Michigan Economic Development Corporation, SWARCO, Jenoptik and SNC Lavalin business Atkins.

On Tuesday, Director of Michigan DOT Kirk Steudle talked about how he is as much in Copenhagen to learn as to talk about his home state’s wide range of innovations, while we also heard from Atkins talking connectivity and about a connected trial within the Arctic Circle.

On Wednesday there was an explanation of a new truck tolling solution which does away with the gantry and about a collaboration on automated valet parking that’s ready to be launched as well as a carmaker’s mobility solution and Chinese solutions to ITS connectivity as well as the winners of the ITS World Congress Diversity Award.

Thursday’s programme heard from the Lieutenant Governor of Michigan, explaining why understanding technology changes is vital for social inclusion and how he’s working to implement new technology in transport, while Paul Hutton rode in a driverless pod and we talked MaaS and autonomy plus a look at using information to improve roadworks information and roadworker safety.

For Friday we heard about micromobility, modelling MaaS, a new after-market device to improve warnings into vehicles, a safety solution with connected street lights and an in-car AI solution about driver behaviour as well as a look forward to next year’s World Congress in Singapore.
