Mouchel have won a prestigious international ITS award for "best action to promote diversity in the ITS Workforce".The title was given to them at the ITS World Congress in Bordeaux by a group of international ITS organisations led by ITS (UK), judged by six experts from across the world.  It's in recognition of their support for the ITS (UK) Women in ITS Group. The award was made by Ertico Chairman Cees de Wijs and collected by Mouchel's Ian Patey who told Smart Highways Editor Paul Hutton: "within our Mouchel business we have sought to create diversity across our teams right from the start of building an ITS business.  ITS (UK) have a Women in Engineering Interest Group and I personally made sure that we supported that group because I feel very passionately about equal opportunities and that ITS gets the best it can."He also backed initiatives in schools to encourage more girls into engineering: "I'm now a member of various industry diversity groups and the amount of activity that's going on through schools is great because the number of graduates coming through that will attract people into ITS because people are making choices well before University, so the more we can influence people early in their school life the more chance we've got of them coming out at the end."You can hear Cees de Wijs announce the award, and Ian's interview with Paul here:[audio mp3="http://smarthighways.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/patey.mp3"][/audio]
