An online petition's been launched calling on the Government to hold a public inquiry into the performance of the Dartford Crossing.Road users & hauliers have been suffering the incompetence of the 'new & improved' northbound Dartford River Crossing for too long. After the multi million pound improvement works were completed road users have had to bear the brunt of a botched scheme which shows no evidence of improvement.Driver Alan Pattinson has created the petition on the petitions section of the Parliament website saying, "road users and hauliers have been suffering the incompetence of the 'new & improved' northbound Dartford River Crossing for too long.  After the multi million pound improvement works were completed road users have had to bear the brunt of a botched scheme which shows no evidence of improvement."Last week the MP for Dartford warned someone may die in delays at the crossing. This is the latest in a series of petitions complaining about the performance of the crossing since it went free flow, largely due to queues on the northbound section through the tunnels.More than ten thousand people have signed this petition which means the Government must issue a response. In response to an earlier petition, which gained more than 17,000 signatures, the Government said, "The Dart Charge improvements have significantly reduced journey times at this crucial part of the road network, particularly for people travelling southbound."
