John Leech, head of auto at consultancy KPMG, told the newspaper: "Insurance premiums could halve once vehicles which communicate with each other and an 'autopilot mode' when driving on the motorway are developed ' this is likely to happen by approximately 2020."
The report further predicts that, when it comes to the thorny issue of accident liability, it will fall upon the manufacturers rather than the owners to take responsibility for injury or damage because it will be seen as a product failure.
