Uber is denying stealing technology from the driverless car division of Google's parent company Alphabet, saying it is "fundamentally different".The Telegraph reports that Waymo is claiming its former executive, Anthony Levandowski, stole around 14,000 files before joining Uber in 2016 and last month filed a motion to halt work on Uber's self-driving car development and that in response to this, in a federal court filing, Uber said no Waymo computer files on autonomous technology ever ended up on its servers.'If Waymo genuinely thought that Uber was using its secrets, it would not have waited more than five months to seek an injunction. Waymo doesn't meet the high bar for an injunction, which would stifle our independent innovation ' probably Waymo's goal in the first place," the Telegraph quotes Angela Padilla, Uber's associate general counsel. If the Google lawsuit is successful, Uber could be blocked from using the technology powering its self-driving cars.
