Balfour lands major roads contracts
Balfour Beatty Regional Civil Engineering has picked-up a pair of major highways improvement jobs as part of a £143m haul of new business during the first quarter of 2012.The new work total is £17m up on the same period in 2011.BBRCE Deputy Managing Director, Murray Easton (pictured), said: “We are delighted to be awarded all of these contracts. The nature of our business is such that we have the expertise necessary to carry out projects over a wide range of civil engineering disciplines."We look forward to working with our new and existing customers to successfully deliver these contracts.”The highways contracts include:· The £11m contract to carry out Phase 2 of the Doncaster Southern Gateway (White Rose Way). The Doncaster Council led contract involves construction of a new dual carriageway as well as replacing roundabouts with traffic signal controls.· In Wales, BBRCE has been awarded the £5.6 million A470 Gelligemlyn highways improvement scheme by the Welsh Government. The project consists of improving 2 kilometres of sub-standard highway to provide a 7.3 metre wide carriageway.
