North Midland Construction (NM Group) will undertake public realm work in Sheffield after being awarded a contract worth £4 million by the city council.
The public realm works are part of a joint initiative between the University of Sheffield and Sheffield City Council and aim to transform the public spaces around the University of Sheffield’s campus, with new pedestrian and cycle routes, improved crossings on Upper Hanover Street and Western Bank, and much greener, safer public spaces for everyone to enjoy.
The works have been supported by funding from Sheffield City Region Investment Fund, as well significant investment from the University’s own funds.
NM Group’s highways and utilities division has already successfully delivered several similar projects for Sheffield City Council and this latest scheme will see the division drawing on its expertise to provide further high quality improvements to public spaces in Sheffield, helping to regenerate the city and promote growth and prosperity.
Geoff Poyzer, managing director of the highways and utilities division, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this prestigious project to carry out improvements to public spaces in Sheffield city centre. The scheme will add to our portfolio of high quality works within Sheffield and strengthen the relationship that we have developed with Sheffield City Council and Sheffield University over many years.”
