New president for IHE

John Nightingale is the new president of the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE).

Nightingale (pictured), who is a director at JCT Consultancy, has served as vice president for four years and succeeds Richard Hayes into the president’s chair.

He said: “I am in a fortunate position in inheriting an Institute which is strong and growing in stature. As well as the day-to-day job of representing and promoting the Institute it will be my job to steer the governance of the IHE in moving us forward in terms of membership and profile.”

Hayes added: “John is the first president for many years not to come from the public sector and is going to lead the Institute through further challenging times as well as our 50th anniversary celebrations. I wish him every success and know that he will execute his duties and responsibilities with great professionalism and dedication.”
