Contractors have until February 20 to register interest in bidding for a £14.4m highways maintenance contract for the West Midlands Combined Authority.

The shortlisted contractors will have until 13 March to submit tenders for the deal, which will start in July 2026 and run for five years.

A single contractor will be appointed to the contract, which will cover four areas: reactive highway infrastructure maintenance; planned highway infrastructure maintenance; passenger information; and storage of spares and out-of-use assets.

The majority of repairs are due to vandalism and typically involve work to glazing, bus shelters and bus stops, pole damage and seat damage. Work will include the removal and re-installation of bus shelters, stop poles or information points at existing or new sites.

The contract, valued at £12m before VAT, will include the potential for two extensions of three and two years respectively, which could take the deal up to March 2036.
