Amey has partnered with intelligence platform FYLD to deploy the company's AI technology across its highways division, with plans to ‘transform how more than 2,500 field workers' undertake essential maintenance works.
Forming a ‘long-term agreement', Amey plans to integrate FYLD's digital workflows and AI-enabled risk assessment tools into its daily operations, with the hope that it will ‘improve safety, reduce job aborts and improve operational consistency'.
The technology is also expected to provide Amey supervisors with ‘real-time visibility' into work on the ground.
Before deploying the technology across its whole network, Amey and FYLD undertook a three-month pilot programme across more than 500 jobs. The trial showed strong performance, with 95% of the jobs logged in the system featuring an AI-enabled risk assessment and 85% of users consistently active. Amey also saw ‘significant improvements' in job preparation, reduced aborts, and more efficient daily workflows.
Kyle Clough, sector business director for Amey, said: ‘Working with FYLD puts us ahead of the curve on digital transformation and gives our frontline teams smarter, faster and more consistent ways of delivering the essential services communities rely on every day.'
During the pilot, both companies collaborated on customised capabilities, including video-based workflows and offline AI-enabled risk assessments to streamline handovers powered by GenAI summaries.
Shelley Copsey, CEO and co-founder of FYLD, added: ‘Bringing real-time visibility and targeted AI into field operations at scale with Amey is a significant step toward making that work more efficient and sustainable. It's also a great example of how proven innovation can move quickly to become an operational standard.'
Following the pilot, Amey is fully deploying the FYLD's technology across its operations, using real-world frontline intelligence to ‘drive the next wave of digital, safety, and operational innovation'.
