Devon County Council has tendered a £64.8m resurfacing framework that is expected to cover the next four years of reconstruction, recycling, patching and surfacing works on the county's road network.

Running from 1 September this year until 31 August 2030, the framework is divided into three lots. Unusually, the value of the three lots (£16.2m) does not add up to the total value of the framework. Highways has contacted Devon for the explanation.

The three lots are:

  • Lot 1. Resurfacing, reconstruction and patching of carriageways, Ex-Situ Recycling of pavements and associated works – estimated value up to £14.4m
  • Lot 2. Hand patching, the installation of High Friction Surfacing (HFS), carriageway lining, patching of existing HFS installations and associated works – estimated value up to £900,000
  • Lot 3. In-situ Pavement Recycling and associated works – estimated value up to £900,000

Devon CC has set no limit on the number of suppliers that can be appointed to this framework and has invited companies interested in participating to enquire by 18 June. Following this, tenders are due for submission by 2 July, with the council planning to announce the successful applicants by 3 August.
