Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council has appointed Liverpool-based civil engineering company Dowhigh to a £96m carriageway resurfacing contract.
While the contract is still in its standstill period, Dowhigh is set to sign a contract for an initial five-year period from 18 December 2026 to 17 December 2031.
The contract also allows for a possible three 12-month extensions to 17 December 2034, bringing the total contract length to eight years.
Sefton stated in its award notice that it received three tenders, but only Dowhigh and Huyton Asphalt Civils were assessed in the final stage, with the former set to be appointed.
