Jackson has started on a £15.2m public realm project to regenerate St Botolph's Circus in Colchester for Essex County Council.
The works will be overseen by Team Colchester, which is a joint initiative between the county council and Colchester City Council, and will comprise shrinking the existing roundabout, removing outdated subways and building surface-level pedestrian and cycle crossings.
Tim Honeyball, project manager at Jackson, said: 'We are pleased to be delivering this important project for Colchester. It will not only regenerate this important part of the city but will also improve safety and accessibility for people using the junction, particularly those travelling from the south of the city centre.'
The scheme is part of a wider programme of regeneration projects across the city, including the transformation of St Nicholas Square, which are being funded with a £19.6m grant from the government's Levelling Up Fund.
Work at St Botolph's Circus is due for completion in autumn 2027.
