The UK roads sector's first ever national Roll of Honour has been unveiled as part of the Highways Champions Awards 2026, celebrating individuals whose efforts, stories and achievements have helped shape the history of our great industry.
More than 100 Champions have been selected to receive a medal of service, including the selected finalists for each of the four category awards, the winners of which will be announced on the night -- 4 November in Mayfair, London. Every medal is equal because they are all Highways Champions.

Each Champion was chosen by the independent expert judging panel, with nominations pouring in from across the UK roads sector. They were scored against a rigorous set of criteria covering personal achievement, impact, values, strength of story, and evidence of what makes a true Highways Champion, with the bar deliberately set high to ensure that every genuinely outstanding nominee is recognised.
The event promises to be a fantastic night, hosted by star of TV and radio, Vernon Kay, and taking place at one of the capital's most prestigious venues, the InterContinental London Park Lane, in the heart of Mayfair.

The breadth of stories that have been unearthed through the nominations process is simply awe-inspiring. Examples include the two colleagues who acted fast enough to save a workmate's life mid-stroke, the pair who stepped in to prevent a suicide on a motorway bridge, three decades of technical leadership building the industry's foundations, and fifty years spent as a school crossing patrol officer safely guiding generations of children.
