Richard Lowey has been made deputy director, engineering and standards for the Environment Agency.
The former capability lead for structural and geotechnical engineering at Kier Group first started at the agency in March of this year.
An engineer by training, Mr Lowey started working in highways at Atkins for nearly six years, before going on to hold roles at URS Corporation (a subsidiary of AECOM), WSP, Network Rail, Highways England (now National Highways) and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation.
He stated that he was ‘looking forward to the adventures ahead' and that the announcement of his new position was being made slightly belatedly on LinkedIn because ‘time flies when you're having fun!'
His new role will see him leading infrastructure engineers and technical specialists in working to create ‘better places for people and wildlife', while supporting sustainable development and delivering ‘safe, reliable and sustainable assets for a climate resilient future'.
