Industry giant and former tier one MD, Peter Hyde, has retired after forty years working in highways and civil engineering.
Mr Hyde led the sector from various roles over the years, including MD of VolkerHighways, Tarmac highways services director and MD of Riney. He also served as a board member of the Tarmac Kier Joint Venture that delivered highways projects for Transport for London (TfL).
His career started in 1986 as a trainee site engineer at Gabriel Contractor, where he spent over 17 years working his way up to contract manager. He then moved on to John Crowley (Maidstone) Ltd, where he spent two years as director of operations before taking up the role of MD for a further two years.
Announcing his retirement on LinkedIn, Mr Hyde said: ‘I have had 40 years working in civil engineering and highways - a fantastic industry. I have had the best time working with many talented people over the years, it has been a real pleasure seeing people and businesses develop and improve, become safer and more sustainable.
‘Good luck for the future to all my colleagues and clients I have worked with over the years as I take a step into the unknown.'
