A man’s been banned from driving for putting his Tesla into autopilot mode and sitting in the passenger seat on the busy M1 north of London.
Bhavesh Patel, 39, of Alfreton Road, Nottingham, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving at St Albans Crown Court after he was filmed sitting in the passenger seat of his Tesla S 60 near Hemel Hempstead while travelling at 40 mph (around 60 km/h).
The Court heard that Patel told officers what he had done was “silly” but his car was capable of something “amazing” and that he was the “unlucky one who got caught”.
He was banned for 18 months, fined and given community service.
