The autonomous vehicle company under Alphabet, Waymo has announced that it will be bringing back its self-driving trucks to Arizona.
Waymo’s self-driving Class 8 big rig trucks have been off Arizona’s roads for over a year.
The trucks were first tested in Arizona in August 2017 in order to gather initial information about driving trucks in the region, says TechCrunch.
The re-introduction of the trucks aims to start a new round of testing that will work at a more advanced stage in the programmes development.
According to TechCrunch testing will be conducted on freeways around the metro Phoenix area and will expand over time. Both empty trucks and trucks with freight are to be tested.
The self-driving trucks will have two trained safety drivers who can take over if needed.
