Barrier upgrade for A590
The Highways Agency will carry out a £280,000 upgrade of safety barriers along the eastbound carriageway of the A590 in Cumbria towards its junction with the M6.The month-long project will start on 15 September and be completed by 14 October. Most of the work, which will be carried out around the clock, will take place in a lane one closure of the dual carriageway as it involves replacing the safety barrier in the verge, bringing it up to the latest standard. A 50mph speed limit will be in place past the roadworks for the safety of road workers and road users. The eastbound dual carriageway will be totally shut overnight for four nights during the work.Highways Agency project sponsor Peter Gee said: ''This is important work to update safety provisions along this section of the A590.”
