Transport minister Graeme Dey will launch Road Expo Scotland this year with a keynote opening address, setting out the Scottish agenda for roads and transport.
Registration is completely free and now open for the flagship conference and exhibition, which is combined with Bridges Scotland with both taking place in Glasgow SEC on 1-2 December.
Also topping the bill will be a wealth of experts from conference partner Transport Scotland, including:
- Stuart Greig, director of low carbon economy, who will be giving an overview of the transport authority’s work to reach net zero
- Jonathan Moran, head of operations, with a talk on ‘protecting our road workers’
- George Henry, national operations manager, road safety policy and education, presenting on the road safety framework
- Trevor McIlhatton, head of environmental sustainability, who will be discussing the road to climate resilience
These public sector heavyweights, with be joined by leading colleagues from industry and the third sector including David Symons, director of sustainability at WSP, Martin Andrews head of product management at Yunex Traffic (formerly Siemens Mobility) and Chiquita Elvin, interim head of infrastructure and delivery at active travel charity Sustrans.
Alongside Road Expo, the Bridges Scotland conference is full of thought leadership and the latest analysis.
Stewart Lothian, regional asset manager at Network Rail, will be discussing ‘managing the risk of scour and flooding on Scotland’s railways’, while Dr Donald Pearson-Kirk, technical director of the structures investigations group at WSP, will be speaking on ‘post-tensioned structures – the Scottish experience’.
There will also be talks on pushing the boundaries on modular bridging, the Forth bridge ‘experience’ and its expansion joint replacement works and ‘replacing Scotland’s most bashed in bridge’.
