Shropshire Council has started preliminary market engagement for a mixed economy services (repairs and patching) framework with an estimated value of £144m.
Expected to run for an initial five years from 11 October 2026 to 10 October 2031, the council also plans to allow for a possible five-year extension, bringing the end date to 10 October 2036.
Shropshire said the main goals of this market engagement are to ‘initiate an exchange with the market to consider specific themes related to the services and advance the Council's strategic priorities'.
The procurement will cover the following ‘core services':
- Potholes / Defect Repair
- Patching - hand lay and machine lay
- Crack and joint sealing
- Ironwork repairs
- Seamless/thermal treatments
- Recycled rubber or alternative mastic solutions
- In-situ repairs
- Minor Works
Suppliers will also be expected to provide secondary services to support winter gritting operations, snow clearance support, flood response or emergency network resilience and urgent incident response where instructed by the Council.
