SRL Traffic Systems has reported its first-ever lost time injury frequency rate (LTIFR) of zero across a 12-month rolling period.

SRL stated that LTIFR rates in the sector typically fall between 0.20 and 0.40 per 100,000 hours worked, which translates to roughly one lost-time injury every 250,000 to 500,000 hours. This puts the company ‘significantly ahead of established industry benchmarks'.

It credits the result to ‘strengthened safe working practices, increased near miss reporting, and a rise in safety observations that help identify risks before incidents occur', all of which have contributed to ‘a more open reporting culture and improved risk visibility across depots and field operations'.

The company also recognised the ‘vital role' of its safety, health, environment, and quality team, stating that its ‘leadership and consistency' supported colleagues in ‘embedding safer ways of working'.

CEO of SRL, Paul Lewis, said: ‘Our LTIFR result is a direct reflection of the commitment shown by our people. Safety is fundamental to the service we provide and the communities we support. Achieving zero lost time injuries over a full year shows what's possible when safety is owned at every level of the organisation. I'm incredibly proud of every colleague who has contributed to this achievement.'

The company plans to maintain this standard through investment in training, behavioural safety, technology-enabled reporting and ‘continuous improvement to build on this momentum'.
