The South Wales Trunk Road Agent (SWTRA) has published a planned procurement notice for a highways and structures framework valued at £324m.
Expected to last for a total of six years, the contract will have an initial four-year run from 1 February 2027 to 31 January 2031 with a possible extension to 31 January 2033.
It is expected to be split into two lots:
- Lot 1: Highways and structures
- Lot 2: Surfacing and ancillary works
Lot 1 is valued at up to £182.4m and covers the delivery of ‘ancillary, civil and structural engineering works' across South Wales's strategic road network, including carriageway maintenance, structural renewals and upgrade programmes.
Lot 2 covers surfacing and ancillary works such as highway pavement surfacing, pavement improvements, maintenance and emergency works, and is valued at £141.6m.
SWTRA stated that this framework allows for a maximum of eight suppliers.
It expects to publish the tender notice on 7 September, with submissions due by 16 October.
