Transport Scotland has extended the deadline for its near-£2bn A9 dualling framework by a week.

Originally, companies wishing to secure a place on the framework – valued at £1.94bn – were told by the Scottish transport authority to submit a single procurement document by 6 June, with successful applicants then being invited to submit a formal tender by 10 August.

However, the 6 June deadline has now been pushed back a week to 13 June, although there has been no mention of whether the invitation to tender will also move a week into the future.

Those that are successful will have the opportunity to bid on the two lots included in the framework, which cover works less than £400m and works greater than £400m, respectively.

When asked why the deadline had been extended, a Transport Scotland spokesperson said: 'The deadline for submission of requests to participate has been amended to 13 July 2026 in response to a request from an interested party for the timeline for submissions to be extended. Procurement of the Framework Agreement is still expected to complete with appointment of participants to the Framework by the end of 2026.

'As this is an active procurement, any further changes to specific timescales for stages of the procurement will be communicated to interested parties via Public Contracts Scotland.'
