Cardiff Council is considering plans to borrow up to £14m to fix potholes in the city. The move comes after figures showed that over the past four years pothole-related compensation claims cost the authority £1.3m.Councillor Lisa Ford, executive member for highways, said officers were evaluating the proposal and would report back early next year.
“It will bring forward recommendations as to how the council could manage and invest in the medium to long-term,” she said.“The goal would be to bring wholesale improvements to highway defect management.”If feasible, it could be included in the Liberal-Democrat/Plaid Cymru-run authority’s February draft budget – in time for next May’s local elections.
