The Government is planning a consultation on the future of tolls for the Severn Crossings, with Roads Minister Andrew Jones reported to be supporting a free flow solution. The website Walesonline reports that the consultation needs to happen before the crossings return to public ownership, which could happen in October next year.'I know that makes a difference,' he is quoted as saying.  'We've seen that at the Dartford Crossing for example where the crossing times have been reduced with the introduction of a free flow tolling system."At the moment it costs £6.60 to drive a car into Wales, and £19.80 for a lorry.  These tolls are expected to be halved when the bridges are publicly owned, although the report says there are calls for the charges to be even less, or scrapped altogether.
