£6m resurfacing programme for A38

Highways England will start a £6m programme of overnight resurfacing works next week covering 17 carriageway miles on 6 sections of the A38 between Dartbridge and Trerulefoot.

The schedule starts on the Plymouth Parkway, between Tamar and Manadon, on Monday, 21 September. Works on this section will be carried out between 8pm and 6am with all traffic management being removed during the day.

It is anticipate that work on this section will be completed by 29 October.

Highways England team leader Julian Strong said: "We fully appreciate that the Parkway is a very busy stretch of road and that is why we have planned these works to take place at a quieter time of the year and overnight to ensure disruption to Plymouth road users is kept to an absolute minimum.

"Whilst these works are happening at the same time as our Merafield Road bridge replacement scheme we can assure drivers that we have done everything we can to minimise the combined impact of these works."

Works between St Budeaux (Victoria) and Manadon will require some overnight closures on the A38.

During the closures traffic will be diverted via the B3413 and A386 between St Budeaux (Victoria) and Manadon.

Works between Tamar and St Budeaux will be carried out under convoy. This will allow traffic to remain on the A38, although held by traffic lights and taken in convoy passed the roadworks at 10 mph to ensure the safety of our roadworkers.

Further details will be published as the programme progresses and works will be completed by December 18.
