Warwickshire County Council, Coventry City Council and Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council have announced a joint procurement for £900m of highways maintenance works.
The contract will see the chosen supplier provide maintenance and other services for the total joint network of the three councils.
The objectives of the contract are to:
- Maintain and improve the condition of the road network and associated assets.
- Ensure the safety of road users
- Minimise disruption to traffic
- Deliver value for money
- Protect the environment
The procurement will be based around a 'competitive flexible procedure' model, involving four stages: initial submissions, bid optimisation/dialogue/pre-tender negotiation, invitation to submit final tenders and post tender negotiation/preferred supplier.
Running for an initial seven years from 5 May 2026 until 4 May 2033, the contract can be extended for a maximum of six years more, up until 4 May 2039.
The successful tender is expected to be announced by 12 December 2025.
