HS2 Ltd has announced the start of its pre-qualification stage for around £3bn of construction work to transform Euston station and deliver a brand new transport hub at Old Oak Common.
Bidders for both contracts are expected to be invited to tender by the end of the year, with contract award in autumn 2018.

The expected value of the Euston contract is £1.65bn. The work will nearly triple capacity, adding eleven new platforms over two phases. HS2 will also link Euston and Euston Square into one station for the first time, and provide for a potential future connection to Crossrail 2.
The Old Oak Common work is set to be worth £1.3bn and will deliver a brand new integrated transport hub with direct HS2 services north.
Transport minister Paul Maynard said: ‘The launch of the search for construction teams to build the southern HS2 stations is another major step towards making Britain’s new railway a catalyst for growth across the country. And next year HS2 Ltd will begin the hunt for companies to build the two Birmingham stations.
‘The winning bidders will need to ensure that the stations provide the best possible customer experience. But there will also be huge and exciting opportunities for development around all HS2 station sites, not just in London and the West Midlands, but also in Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield and the East Midlands, unlocking huge opportunities for new jobs, homes and economic growth.’
Working with HS2 Ltd and the Euston and Old Oak Common designers, the successful bidders will act as ‘construction partners’ and take responsibility for programme management as well as procuring, integrating and managing the complex supply chains.
HS2 Ltd has already confirmed the shortlist to design the four core HS2 stations across Birmingham, Euston and Old Oak Common. The following bidders were invited to tender on 12 July 2017.
