Interested contractors have until next week to submit tenders for a £30m highways maintenance tender with Wirral Council, covering surface treatments and resurfacing.
The enquiries deadline passed today (26 August) with the tender submissions window ending on 2 September.
The work is split into two lots - one for surface dressing and micro carriageway surfacing, and one for structural carriageway resurfacing - worth a total of £29.4m including VAT.
With the work running from 1 December 2025 to 1 December 2028, the council is looking for a single supplier for both lots. Tenderers can submit a tender response for one or both lots.
Lot 1 covers general carriageway surface dressing and all associated traffic and pedestrian management and is worth £16.2m including VAT.
The work for lot 2 will involve highway surfacing 'to base, binder, and surface levels, and proprietary processes including ironwork adjustment, re-application of carriageway markings, and all associated traffic and pedestrian management'. It is expected to be worth up to £13.2m including VAT.
The contracts will be awarded 50% on quality, 40% on price and 10% on social value.
