National Highways has published a planned procurement notice for its £9.5bn maintenance and response 2 framework.
The framework will cover maintenance and reactive services across over 4,500 miles of motorways and major A roads in the strategic road network and has been split into seven regional lots:
- Lot 1: South West – estimated value of £895m
- Lot 2: South East – estimated value of £1.31bn
- Lot 3: East – estimated value of £1.17bn
- Lot 4: Midlands – West – estimated value of £959m
- Lot 5: Midlands – East – estimated value of £871m
- Lot 6: North West – estimated value of £1.14bn
- Lot 7: Yorkshire & North East – estimated value of £1.082bn
The total value of all seven lots comes to £7.34bn, leaving just over £2bn unaccounted for in the total framework value. When approached by Highways, a spokesperson said: 'The overall framework value includes for inflation and a level of contingency. Therefore, it does not equate to the aggregate total of the individual lot values included in the notice.'
National Highways expects to publish the tender notice for this framework by 24 August. Enquiries will then be due by 21 September, with the deadline to submit a request to participate set for 5 October.
The successful suppliers are currently expected to be announced by 26 November.
