Lincolnshire County Council has announced a raft of successful suppliers who have won places on a £180m four-year framework to deliver general and surfacing works across the county.

There was tough competition for places on the Select List Framework Contract - with only half of the 10 tenders received for Lots 1 and 2 making it onto the framework and five of the seven submissions for Lot 3 making it through.

Lincolnshire said the aim was 'to provide a framework of experienced contractors to deliver general and surfacing works for various types of projects and schemes (Work Orders) which will subsequently be competitively tendered'.

Each lot is due to run from 12 January to 11 January 2030

Lot 1 covers general works of between £0-£1.5m and is expected to be worth £21.6m including VAT.

'Typical schemes are likely to include a combination of the following disciplines; maintenance works, junction improvements, drainage works, bridge refurbishments, town centre improvement works and traffic signal installations,' Lincolnshire said.

The successful suppliers were:

  • Amalgamated Construction
  • Daniel Charles Construction
  • Fox (Owmby)
  • Holcim UK
  • PBS Construction (North East)

Lot 2 covers general works of between £1.5-£6m and is expected to be worth £67.2m including VAT.

'Typical schemes will be for the creation of smaller elements of new infrastructure/assets as well as new large infrastructure/assets and infrastructure improvements,' Lincolnshire said. This could include the construction of roundabouts, access roads to development sites, major widening schemes and the dualling of short sections of highway. These projects are likely to be on A or B class roads with major traffic management implications,' Lincolnshire said.

The successful suppliers were:

  • Breheny Civil Engineering
  • C.R. Reynolds
  • Danaher & Walsh (Civil Engineering)
  • Jackson Civil Engineering
  • Winvic Cinstruction

Lot 3 covers major highway resurfacing works worth between £0-£6m and is expected to be worth £91.2m including VAT.

Generally, these schemes will consist of 'full depth construction and/or full surface course replacement generally on the Primary Route Network (Class A or B roads) throughout the County in rural and urban areas,' Lincolnshire said.

The county's 'surfacing course of choice is hot rolled asphalt' but other materials may also be used.

The successful suppliers were:

  • Hanson Quarry Products Europe
  • Holcim UK
  • Tarmac
