Kier has appointed Alexandra Smith as the new national frameworks director for its construction business, following the planned retirement of Deane Hudson - who spent an incredible 39 years working with the company.
Having joined the company two years ago as senior business development manager for its London and Thames Valley business, she has led the public sector pipeline and ‘strengthened framework relationships with customers, consultants and partners', Kier said.
Her new position with Kier will see her lead its national frameworks strategy and the division's ‘long-term growth ambitions' across the public sector.
Ms Smith said: ‘Frameworks are vitally important to us at Kier and they are fundamental to providing value for the public purse, and I'm focused on continuing to strengthen those relationships, ensuring a sustainable pipeline of opportunities for the Group.
'It's a privilege to follow in Deane's footsteps, and I look forward to working closely with him during our handover. It's been a pleasure to work alongside the outstanding team in London and the Thames Valley over the last two years, and I look forward to supporting them in a different capacity as part of this new role.'
Rebecca Boundy, managing director of clients and markets for Kier Construction, added: ‘Deane will leave a remarkable legacy both within our business and across the industry at large – we all wish him a happy retirement. At Kier we are committed to retaining and developing talent, so it's wonderful that Alexandra will be occupying this critical role on our team. This will be a huge asset to the continued growth of the business and she leads on driving customer relationships, business development, and commercial governance in this space.'
Ms Smith also spent almost six years working for Balfour Beatty, first as a graduate business development manager in 2018, then progressing through to her final role with the company as senior business development manager.
