One of the key figures in the UK's ITS sector, Simon Waterfall, has joined the Torquay Group as transformation manager.

Mr Waterfall is a former general manager for highways at Clearway Technology, where he worked for four years on developing and providing growth through new products, innovations and services. He has also worked as a client relationship manager at Clearview Intelligence and a technology asset manager at Kier.

Torquay Holdings is a global organisation encompassing Mobile Visual Information Systems (MVIS) and Bartco Australia. It also recently acquired Solar Gates along with its leading brands, SOSEC, INSTABOOM, and INSTABOOM Go. Announcing his new job on LinkedIn, he said: 'This role will support the group businesses of Solar Gates and P&D Specialist Services Limited with commercial support, new service offerings and build upon the strength of the current strategic partnerships. I have already received a very warm welcome and look forward to supporting the businesses with plans for further growth.'

He added that he had an 'incredible four years' at Clearway, where the team 'set out to disrupt the sector, bringing fresh thinking and innovation to the market'.

'I'm proud to say we didn't just talk about it, we delivered. Drawing on the experience and insight I gained during my innovation role at Kier, particularly around using solar technology to power roadside assets, we were able to challenge traditional approaches and create meaningful change and bag a few accolades along the way.'
