Transport Scotland has announced further traffic diversions for the ongoing ground investigation works along the A83 Rest and Be Thankful.
The diversions will see traffic directed onto the nearby Old Military Road between 8am and 6pm on 17 and 18 June, as the work being undertaken cannot be completed at night due to worker safety.
The works will involve large cranes, ancillary equipment and a large number of personnel to lift specialist drilling equipment onto the hillside. During these works these large cranes will occupy the full width of the A83 carriageway.
Transport Scotland said that it ‘appreciates the frustration’ these diversions will cause for the local community and road users.
‘As we carry out any works,’ it stated, ‘we are committed to ensuring that Argyll and Bute remains open for business.’
