Richardson announced as ARTSM’s first female chair

Karen Richardson will become the first female chair of the Association for Road Traffic Safety and Management (ARTSM).

Richardson (pictured), who is account manager at Pudsey Diamond Engineering, has been elected vice-chair of the executive committee of ARTSM and will be promoted to chair after the association’s annual general meeting next year.

She will become the first woman to chair the association since it was founded in 1934.

Richardson has worked with ARTSM since 2007 and has chaired one of the specialist working groups on traffic bollards and sign lighting for the last four years.

Lindsay Forster, the association’s current chair, said: “Like many industries, ours has long been notable for the lack of female representation. I’d like to see much greater participation by women in all the association’s activities, so I am particularly pleased that we’re at last beginning to move in the right direction.”
