Transport Scotland takes the lead at Road Expo 2025

Transport Scotland will take centre stage at Road Expo and Bridges Scotland 2025 - the devolved nation's leading transport and infrastructure event.

Taking place 26-27 November at SEC Glasgow, the co-located conferences will showcase Transport Scotland's strategic priorities, major project updates and vision for the future.

Leading the agenda

Road Expo will feature a ministerial keynote on the nation's road safety strategy, alongside major project updates from top officials, such as head of programme delivery, Gemma Patterson, discussing the A9 Dualling Programme.

Hugh Gillies, director of roads at Transport Scotland, will lead discussions on addressing the critical transport skills shortage, while Alan Ferguson, materials advisor, will discuss data-driven road maintenance planning.

Transport Scotland's ambitious plan to deliver 30,000 public EV charge points by 2030, supporting Scotland's transition to Net Zero by 2045, will also be outlined.

Bridges Scotland will feature presentations on the Forth Road Bridge main cable inspection programme and asset management frameworks for Scotland's bridge infrastructure.

Industry leadership

The event, organised in partnership with Transport Scotland, will bring together over 2,000 delegates from across the nation's transport sector, including representatives from every major Scottish local authority, contractors, consultants and technology providers.

Khalifa Bokhammas, conference production manager at Hemming Group, said: ‘This year's programme demonstrates Transport Scotland's leadership in addressing Scotland's most pressing transport challenges.

'From the A9 Dualling to EV infrastructure and bridge asset management, this event provides unparalleled access to the strategic thinking and technical expertise shaping Scotland's transport future. The partnership with Transport Scotland ensures delegates receive the most current insights into policy direction and major project delivery.’

Scott Lees, head of network maintenance and roads delivery directorate at Transport Scotland, commented: ‘Road Expo and Bridges Scotland provides an essential platform for Transport Scotland to share our strategic vision and engage with industry partners.

'This event enables us to showcase major programmes like the A9 Dualling, discuss our Net Zero commitments, and collaborate on solutions to challenges such as skills development and infrastructure resilience. The dialogue and partnerships formed at these events are crucial for delivering Scotland's transport priorities.’
