The UK Government has reportedly pledged nearly £500m for infrastructure and transport upgrades in Bedford to help secure the new Universal theme park proposed by Comcast.
The new theme park was announced in April and at the time, ministers indicated that there would be ‘infrastructure investment’ planned for the area surrounding the site, the Financial Times (FT) reported.
At the time, the paper stated that the budget for any investment had yet to be decided.
‘The overall package is still being negotiated with Comcast and the details could still change,' sources close to the talks told reporters.
The Department for Transport (DfT) and the Treasury declined to comment to Highways.
