BRIDGE PARAPETS, PEDESTRIAN BARRIERS AND PASSIVE SIGN SUPPORTS
Varley & Gulliver, a division of Hill and Smith Infrastructure Ltd, alongside 3 other VRS leading companies, Asset VRS, Hardstaff Barriers and Hill & Smith Barriers, has been at the forefront of road safety solutions for decades, with its pedestrian and vehicle parapets and passive sign supports - all designed to keep road users safe.
The full range of products, both aluminium and steel, are manufactured in the UK at the Varley and Gulliver facility in the West Midlands. Vehicle parapets are offered across the typical containment levels; N1, N2, H2 and H4a, all tested to EN 1317 and available in varying height arrangements.
Varley & Gulliver can offer a supply and installation service on all types of parapet projects from new build to repair and maintenance and full parapet refurbishments, with design and technical support throughout.
Supplied worldwide, Varley & Gulliver’s bridge parapets are used in a variety of locations including highways, railways, ports, industrial settings, and other off highway locations.
Varley & Gulliver’s HiMast passive post is recognised across the industry due to its frangible design and non-energy absorbing qualities, meaning that a vehicle loses minimal speed on impact with the HiMast at a range of speeds. In a collision, non- energy absorbing posts have little effect on the speed of the vehicle and present a lower risk of injury to the vehicle occupants.
For the export market, Varley and Gulliver has a range of vehicle parapets meeting international standards and have supplied parapets for some of the most iconic bridges in the world such as the Sheikh Zayed Bridge in Abu Dhabi and the Padma Bridge in Bangladesh.
