New bridge moves closer to completion

A new bridge over the Bexhill to Hastings link road will start to take shape with the installation of huge steel beams next week.

The construction of the new Ninfield Road Bridge is a key milestone for the Bexhill to Hastings link road project as the existing bridge is too low and narrow to allow traffic on the new road to pass underneath.

Delivery of the steel beams will take place early next week and specialist equipment will be used to lift them into place.

The work may result in a short-term closure of the temporary bridge, but this work will not take place at peak times and marshalls will be on duty to advise the public when these closures happen.

Project manager Bob Pape said: “This may affect some pedestrian access to the temporary bridge for a short time next week.

“The installation of the beams is an important milestone for the project, and I would like to thank residents for their patience while this important work is carried out.”
