Highways England have announced that CGI will provide its information and communications technology services as part of a major IT refresh and in support of its transition from a government agency to a government-owned company. Highways England says that, as a result of this agreement, it will enjoy greater flexibility, improved business agility, and improved security.
CGI will provide end user computing services through a collaborative ICT model for more than 3,500 Highways England staff.
Highways England adds that its contract with CGI will enable it to further benefit from disaggregated ICT services, which it says will provide greater flexibility to facilitate the modernisation of its ICT infrastructure.
The new end user computing services model implemented by CGI should improve business agility, mobility and security, allowing Highways England to adopt a range of mobile devices such as secure laptops and tablets. The solution will be supported 24x7 by CGI’s service desk, Secure Government Cloud Infrastructure and Secure Operations Centre (SOC).
