Northern Ireland's Department for Infrastructure (DfI) has awarded Charles Brand Group a £1.6m bridge replacement and carriageway works contract.
The work will see the replacement of Creenagh Bridge on the A45 Ballynakilly Road in Coalisland.
Due to start this September and be completed by next summer, the project is set to include the replacement of the bridge, along with a ‘significant’ stretch of road realignment and the addition of improved footways.
The DfI said it plans to work with the Belfast-based company to ‘carefully programme’ to minimise inconvenience, but added that a full road closure will be required ‘during a period of the contract’ to allow for the total bridge replacement.
Infrastructure minister, Liz Kimmins, said: ‘This significant road realignment scheme will improve safety for pedestrians and road users on the A45 Ballynakilly Road between Coalisland and the M1 Motorway. It will also assist with heavy goods vehicle movement and improve commercial connectivity in this area.’
