The Local Government Technical Advisers Group (LGTAG) and the National Highways and Transportation (NHT) Network have signed a new strategic partnership.
The alliance brings together LGTAG’s well-established technical leadership and professional networks with the NHT Network’s performance benchmarking expertise and data-driven insights.
The two leading bodies said it was a significant step towards 'aligning efforts to support local authority improvement, influence national policy, and deliver better outcomes for communities'.
Joint working on research and technical guidance, co-ordinated policy engagement, shared events and training and cross-representation in working groups and steering committees are all part of the partnership's plans.
Emily See, the new President of LGTAG and Sharon Andrews of the NHT, signed the Memorandum of Understanding along with Satbir Gill, chair of LOTAG, at Emily’s presidential conference at the famous Bletchley Park.
Emily See, president of LGTAG, said: 'This partnership is a natural alignment of our shared ambitions to support local government and the wider sector. LGTAG’s members are the technical backbone of highway and transport delivery, and working more closely with the NHT Network means we can bring data, insight and guidance together to improve services for the public.'
Jon Munslow, chair of the NHT Network, said: 'This collaboration enhances the value of the benchmarking data we collect by connecting it directly to the technical leaders who can use it to drive innovation and improvement.'
The partnership will also explore further integration of benchmarking data with professional practice, helping local authorities make informed decisions grounded in evidence and sector-wide learning.
