The North East Procurement Organisation (NEPO) has opened tenders for a £600m framework for highways surfacing works.
The framework has been split into 18 lots, ranging from asphaltic concrete to non-penetrative surface preservation.
Each lot is valued roughly at one 18th of the total framework value (£39.9m each), but NEPO has stated that ‘while individual lots may exceed their calculated value, the total must not surpass the overall framework value’.
The framework period will run for eight years and will be readvertised before years three and five, so suppliers that were unsuccessful with their first application can reapply later.
It is estimated to run from 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2033.
The deadline to enquire about the framework is the 18 July, with tender submissions due by the 28 July.
Interested suppliers can apply here, with full details of the framework available here.
NEPO is the trading arm of the Association of North East Councils. It covers councils in Darlington, Durham, Gateshead, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, North Tyneside, Northumberland, Redcar & Cleveland, South Tyneside, Stockton-on-Tees and Sunderland.
